Hampton Roads ASL Interpreting Mentorship
THIS IS NOT AN EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Language Group’s interpreting mentorship program is designed for ASL students seeking to fulfill required fieldwork or observation hours. Through this program, students are paired with a nationally certified interpreter and accompany them to onsite assignments. This structured mentorship provides valuable, hands-on experience and insight into professional interpreting practices.
This program will cover assignments across the Hampton Roads area. Assignments will be mainly medical in nature, but can also include other community settings.
This program is created to help students prepare for interpreting in professional settings. Students must have a strong foundation and understanding of ASL already. A certification (such as VQAS) level is preferred. You may be asked to complete a skills assessment with us before proceeding with the onboarding process.
This mentorship program is not compensated. Students are responsible for any expenses that may arise.
